Moti, son of Seth Ramlal falls in love with Roma. They decide to get married but the marriage gets postponed due to untimely death of Moti’s father. On his deathbed, Ramlal provides Moti with three pieces of advice, which change the course of his and Meena’s fate.
With the help of his friend Hiralal, Moti decides to put his father’s advice to the test. He throws a party and invites his friends to drink. The consequences result in him being detained by the police, proving the accuracy of his father’s first maxim. When he encounters the woman he found exceedingly beautiful in the club, only to find that she wears a wig to mask her baldness and much of her identity is a mere façade. This strengthens his confidence in his father’s wisdom.
For his last test, Moti fakes Hiralal’s murder and pretends to be responsible. He ‘confesses’ to Roma and asks her to keep this to herself. Roma is unable to hold on to the secret and ends up telling her best friend Asha. In turn, Asha tells her husband Shekhar, a police inspector. Bound to his duty, Shekhar arrests Moti on the charge of murder before his marriage can take place. Moti is subsequently prosecuted and sentenced to death. Realizing the imminent danger to both his life and Roma’s love for him, he comes clean to Roma, and asks for her help to present Hiralal in court. Meanwhile, Hiralal is staying in a hotel in Ambala under the guise of a certain Ghanshyam Seth.
After a desperate search for Hiralal, Roma finally finds him locked in a box. A series of hijinks follow, including a hijacked train, before Roma presents Hiralal to the court just as Moti is about to be hanged. This harrowing experience helps Moti to realize his mistake. He vows to never meddle with the law again, and follow his own heart despite his father’s advice.
